Scholarship Description

This scholarship is a need-based scholarship for a graduating high school senior who is African American, Native American, Asian/Pacific Islander, or Hispanic/Latino American.

Gates Millenium Scholars Program

Scholarship Description

​The increasing diversity of our society reminds us that all of America’s citizens must have access to opportunity for higher education if our nation is to sustain and advance itself as a global, competitive democracy in the new millennium. The future of our nation’s economy, democracy, and quality of life is dependent upon the preparation of a diverse cadre of leaders who will help build a stronger society. These potential leaders, drawn from groups that have traditionally and historically been denied access to higher education, must receive the support needed to negotiate the pathway to completing a college education.

Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholars

Gates Scholarship

Scholarship Description

The Gates Scholarship (TGS) is a highly selective, last-dollar scholarship for outstanding, minority, high school seniors from low-income households. Each year, the scholarship is awarded to exceptional student leaders, with the intent of helping them realize their maximum potential.

UNCF General Application Scholarship

Scholarship Description

Students are encouraged to continue to visit the UNCF Opportunities homepage throughout the academic year and apply to ALL scholarship programs whose criteria match their academic profile. Updating your profile each semester may enhance the possibility of a match. The UNCF General Application is based upon the following minimum criteria:

1. Be enrolled full-time at a UNCF Member College or University;

2. File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at https://fafsa.ed.gov;

3. Have a demonstrated financial need as verified by the financial aid office;

4. Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 on a 4.00 scale;

5. Complete the online application.

BLM Scholarship Foundation

Scholarship Description

​The BLM² Scholarship was founded on the belief that any motivated individual in need should have the opportunity to further his or her education.  Removing some of the financial burdens associated with college, BLM² plays a vital role in increasing college access to minorities.   All BLM² Scholars are asked to “give back“ in some capacity by community service, mentoring others or donations.

Ron Brown Scholarship

Scholarship Description

The Ron Brown Scholarship honors the legacy of Ronald H. Brown through a selective scholarship program that advances higher education for community-minded and intellectually gifted African Americans. RBSP competitively awards 45 – 50 four-year $40,000 scholarships ($10,000 each year) to the most talented and economically-challenged high school seniors who demonstrate a keen interest in public service, community engagement, business entrepreneurship and global citizenship – the four pillars of the late Ronald H. Brown’s mission to uplift people of all races, cultures and ethnicities – especially our disadvantaged youth.

STEM Stars - The Actuarial Scholars Program

Scholarship Description

The actuarial profession has a diversity challenge. Research shows dramatic disparities in career attainment for minorities. The Society of Actuaries (SOA) and Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) estimate that only 2.7% and 1.5%, respectively, of U.S. members are Black. Latinx members only make up 1.9% and 1.8%, and Native American members are only 0.5% of the total CAS membership in the U.S. The STEM Stars Actuarial Scholars Program was created to help increase diversity in the actuarial profession.

Tailon Leitzsey's "Perseverance Is Key" Scholarship

Scholarship Description

For the Perseverance is Key Scholarship, we will be awarding 4 scholarships worth $1,000 each will be given to students who have demonstrated perseverance throughout their lives.

EDDY Minority First Gen Scholarship

Scholarship Description

EducationDynamics will award one $10,000 scholarship! This scholarship is open to all minority applicants who are the first in their families to go to college, are at least 17 years of age and are pursuing an associate’s or bachelor’s degree at an accredited post-secondary institution of higher learning or a certificate program. 

Sphinx Competition

Grades Eligible For Application: 9-12

Scholarship Application Type: Classical String Music Competition

Scholarship Money Offered: up to $50,000 (Several Winners)

Scholarship Deadline: January 24th (Yearly)

Scholarship Description

The Sphinx Competition, held every year in Detroit (MI), is a national competition offering young Black and Latinx classical string players a chance to compete under the guidance of an internationally renowned panel of judges and to perform with and receive mentorship from established professional musicians.

Black History Month - Uncensored Scholarship

Scholarship Description

This Black History Month, fight back against censorship amongst vulnerable groups and discover more about Black stories and writers! We’ve curated the Uncensored: Banned Books by Black Authors list - based on author and literary activist Marley Dias’ #1000BlackGirlBooks, where we elevate titles from authors featured in her growing database. Read a book from our Uncensored: Banned Books by Black Authors List and share with us how you’ll discuss with your peers the value these books and stories have on society, and why the book should not be banned.
