Scholarship Description
As one of the nation’s largest college financial aid programs in the country, the Horatio Alger National Scholarship Program is one of the major scholarship programs nationally that specifically assists high school students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their young lives. The scholarships are funded by Horatio Alger Members who, like the Scholars, have experienced challenges but ultimately overcame them to become successful business and civic leaders. The National Scholarship is awarded to eligible students in all fifty states, and the District of Columbia. National Scholars receive an all-expenses paid trip to Washington, D.C., during the spring of their senior year to participate in the National Scholars Conference.

Scholarship Description
Students are encouraged to continue to visit the UNCF Opportunities homepage throughout the academic year and apply to ALL scholarship programs whose criteria match their academic profile. Updating your profile each semester may enhance the possibility of a match. The UNCF General Application is based upon the following minimum criteria:
1. Be enrolled full-time at a UNCF Member College or University;
2. File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at https://fafsa.ed.gov;
3. Have a demonstrated financial need as verified by the financial aid office;
4. Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 on a 4.00 scale;

Scholarship Description
Student needs to be a graduating high school senior who intends to pursue an engineering degree or STEM-related studies. Planning to enroll full-time in an ABET- accredited* or substantially equivalent** mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology program, no later than the fall after your senior year in high school. Students need to show their involvement in STEM related activities. Demonstrate family financial need in order to go to college. This award will be for the first year of study (non-renewable) in an accredited* Mechanical Engineering program.

Scholarship Description
The APIA Scholarship is our largest scholarship program, open to AANHPI undergraduate students attending any U.S. accredited university or college. Scholarship amounts range from $2,500 one-year awards to $20,000 multi-year awards. APIA Scholars has a special focus on supporting AANHPI students who live at or below the poverty line; are in the first generation of their family to attend college; are representative of the APIA community’s diversity, (geographically and ethnically}, especially those ethnicities that have been underrepresented on college campuses due to limited access and opportunity. Strong applicants would also have an emphasis on community service and leadership.
McDonalds HACER National Scholarship

Scholarship Description
The McDonald's HACER® National Scholarship Program offers scholarships to up to 30 outstanding Hispanic students from all over the country. Funds are aimed to help recipients finance their college tuition, and there are three tiers. Tier 1 recipients are awarded up to $100,000. Tier 2 recipients receive $20,000 or $10,000 and Tier 3 recipients receive $5,000. Recipients are selected based on their academic achievement, community involvement, personal statement and financial need.

​Rodney James (RJ) was a remarkable soul. He embraced life with unwavering enthusiasm, inspiring all who knew him to find adventure and joy in each day. RJ was a mentor, a brother, and a best friend who was beloved by all. One of RJ’s most inspiring qualities was his dedication to education. His enthusiasm for learning and sharing knowledge was contagious. During his time at UC Berkeley, RJ studied Computer Science, while teaching classes on topics ranging from Sleep Psychology to iOS Development. He was a spirited and steadfast member of the Berkeley community, always encouraging those around him to get involved. To honor his life, love of education, and kind heart, the Rodney James Pimentel Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a student in California who is pursuing an education in STEM. High school and undergraduate students in California are eligible to apply if they are (1) majoring or intending to major in a STEM field and (2) come from a low-income household or disadvantaged community.
