The future of our nation’s economy, democracy, and quality of life is dependent upon the preparation of a diverse cadre of leaders who will help build a stronger society. These potential leaders, drawn from groups that have traditionally and historically been denied access to higher education, must receive the support needed to negotiate the pathway to completing a college education.

​The BLM² Scholarship was founded on the belief that any motivated individual in need should have the opportunity to further his or her education. Removing some of the financial burdens associated with college, BLM² plays a vital role in increasing college access to minorities. All BLM² Scholars are asked to “give back“ in some capacity by community service, mentoring others or donations.

The actuarial profession has a diversity challenge. Research shows dramatic disparities in career attainment for minorities. The Society of Actuaries (SOA) and Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) estimate that only 2.7% and 1.5%, respectively, of U.S. members are Black. Latinx members only make up 1.9% and 1.8%, and Native American members are only 0.5% of the total CAS membership in the U.S. The STEM Stars Actuarial Scholars Program was created to help increase diversity in the actuarial profession.

McDonalds HACER National Scholarship

Scholarship Description
The McDonald's HACER® National Scholarship Program offers scholarships to up to 30 outstanding Hispanic students from all over the country. Funds are aimed to help recipients finance their college tuition, and there are three tiers. Tier 1 recipients are awarded up to $100,000. Tier 2 recipients receive $20,000 or $10,000 and Tier 3 recipients receive $5,000. Recipients are selected based on their academic achievement, community involvement, personal statement and financial need.
